Dr. Bakhos grew up in Monmouth County and completed his undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He earned his medical degree from UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School in Newark, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha, in the national medical honor society. He completed his orthopedic training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Most recently, Dr. Bakhos completed the Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. During his fellowship, Dr. Bakhos received extensive training in complex and revision hip and knee replacements.
His research interests include soft tissue preserving total hip arthroplasty, reducing blood transfusions after joint replacement, and minimizing the risks of total hip dislocation. His work has been presented at national meetings. Dr. Bakhos is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction. |
