Elbow

Your elbow plays a vital role in nearly every upper body movement, far beyond simply bending and straightening your arm. This joint serves as the meeting point for multiple bones, muscles, and connective tissues, all working together to support actions like lifting, throwing, and pushing. Because it’s in constant use, the elbow is especially vulnerable to strain, overuse injuries, and degenerative conditions.

Elbow Injuries & Conditions

Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)

Inflammation or microtearing of the tendons that attach to the lateral (outer) part of the elbow, often caused by repetitive wrist extension.

Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)

Similar to tennis elbow but affects the tendons on the inner (medial) side of the elbow, typically from repetitive wrist flexion.

Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Compression or irritation of the ulnar nerve at the elbow, causing numbness, tingling, and weakness in the ring and little fingers.

Olecranon Bursitis

Swelling and inflammation of the bursa over the tip of the elbow, often due to trauma, pressure, or infection.

Elbow Dislocation

When the bones that form the elbow joint are forced out of alignment, usually due to trauma or falls.

Radial Head Fracture

A break in the radius bone near the elbow, often caused by falling onto an outstretched arm.

UCL Injury (Ulnar Collateral Ligament)

Damage to the ligament on the inside of the elbow, common in throwing athletes; may require “Tommy John surgery” for repair.
