Hip & Thigh

The hip is one of the body’s strongest and most important joints, allowing you to walk, bend, and move with stability. When pain or stiffness interferes with daily routines or mobility, a specialized orthopedic approach can help restore your freedom of movement and improve your quality of life.

Hip Injuries & Conditions

Hip Bursitis

Inflammation of the bursae (fluid-filled sacs) that cushion the hip joint, usually causing outer hip pain, especially when lying on the affected side.

Hip Labral Tear

Damage to the ring of cartilage (labrum) that follows the outside rim of the hip joint socket. Causes clicking, locking, or pain in the hip.

Hip Osteoarthritis

Degeneration of cartilage in the hip joint, leading to stiffness, pain, and decreased range of motion, typically in older adults.

Hip Fracture

A break in the upper part of the femur (thigh bone) near the hip joint, commonly due to falls in older adults or high-impact trauma.

Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)

A condition where abnormal contact between the hip bone and socket leads to joint damage and pain, often affecting young adults.

Snapping Hip Syndrome

Characterized by a snapping sound or sensation in the hip, often due to tendons moving over bone structures. It can be painless or painful.

Hip Dislocation

Displacement of the femoral head from the hip socket, usually due to trauma. A medical emergency requiring prompt treatment.

Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the Hip

Death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply, commonly affecting the femoral head and leading to joint collapse if untreated.

Thigh Injuries & Conditions

Quadriceps Strain

Overstretching or tearing of the quadriceps muscles at the front of the thigh, usually due to sudden movements or overuse.

Hamstring Strain

A tear or stretch in the hamstring muscles at the back of the thigh, often caused by sprinting or sudden acceleration.

Thigh Contusion (Charley Horse)

A bruise or bleeding within the thigh muscles due to direct impact, leading to pain, swelling, and sometimes stiffness.

Iliotibial (IT) Band Syndrome

Inflammation of the IT band (a thick band of tissue on the outer thigh) causing pain on the outer hip or knee, often seen in runners.

Femoral Stress Fracture

A small crack in the thigh bone from repetitive force or overuse, leading to groin or thigh pain that worsens with activity.

Myositis Ossificans

Formation of bone tissue inside a muscle following a severe contusion or repeated trauma, usually affecting the thigh muscles.

Meralgia Paresthetica

Compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, causing burning, tingling, or numbness in the outer thigh.
