Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon Anthony J. Costa, MD, brings surgical proficiency and a flexible, patient-driven approach to his treatment at Orthocenter, which has three locations in Red Bank, Morganville, and Marlboro Township, New Jersey. In addition to general orthopaedic care, he specializes in adult joint replacement, with a focus on hip and knee disorders and trauma of the lower extremities.
Dr. Costa earned his bachelor’s degree and graduated with honors from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He went on to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark for his medical degree, and stayed there for his residency, also specializing in orthopaedic surgery. Furthering his desire to specialize, he completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute before moving back to New Jersey to practice.
Dr. Costa sees his responsibility as a surgeon extending beyond the office. He is the director of the Joint Replacement Center of Excellence at Riverview Medical Center and frequently lectures about living with arthritis and the treatment options available to those who suffer from it.
Dr. Costa’s approach to treatment is always patient-focused. He understands that surgery, while an incredibly effective tool, isn’t the only option for those looking to decrease pain and get back to enjoying their favorite activities, and he respects the opinions and desires of his patients. He believes in using his time with patients to discuss both surgical and conservative options, and to work with them to make decisions that work best for their needs and lifestyle.
