Dr. So is a New Jersey native who specializes in providing comprehensive, patient-centered care of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries with a focus on optimizing function and improving quality of life.
Dr. So earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Studies with a minor in Nutritional Science from Rutgers University. He went on to complete his medical education from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he was the recipient of the Annual PM&R Medical Student Award. Dr. So then completed his Internship at Morristown Medical Center before completing his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey. During residency, Dr. So served as the Administrative Chief Resident. He was also the recipient of the Resident as Teacher Award and nominated for the Golden Apple Award. Dr. So went on to complete his Fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he served as the Clinical Chief Fellow.
As a physiatrist, Dr. So believes in the importance of a multidisciplinary, patient-collaborative approach to spine and musculoskeletal care. He focuses on providing conservative but comprehensive treatment and developing an individualized care plan for each patient. For those who require interventional treatments, Dr. So also specializes in performing a wide array of minimally-invasive spine and musculoskeletal procedures under both fluoroscopic- and ultrasound-guidance, including epidural and facet injections, sacroiliac joint injections, intraarticular joint injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablations, percutaneous needle tenotomy and peritendinous injections, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
Dr. So is an active member of various professional organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), International Pain & Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS), and North American Spine Society (NASS).
