Knee & Leg

The knee and leg are made up of a complex network of bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons that all work together to support movement and stability. Whether you are running, bending, or simply walking, this system is constantly in motion. Because of its complexity and frequent use, effective treatment for knee and leg pain requires skilled evaluation and specialized care.

Knee Injuries & Conditions

ACL Tear (Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear)

A common sports injury where the ACL in the knee is overstretched or torn, often from sudden stops or changes in direction.

MCL Tear (Medial Collateral Ligament Tear)

Injury to the ligament on the inner side of the knee, usually caused by impact or twisting.

Meniscus Tear

Tear in the cartilage (meniscus) that cushions the knee joint. Often caused by twisting while bearing weight.

Patellar Tendinitis (Jumper’s Knee)

Inflammation of the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone. Common in athletes from overuse.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner’s Knee)

Pain at the front of the knee, often from overuse, improper alignment, or muscle imbalances.

Knee Bursitis

Inflammation of the bursa (fluid-filled sac) near the knee joint, causing swelling and pain.

Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Degenerative joint disease causing cartilage breakdown, leading to stiffness and pain in the knee.

Knee Dislocation

A rare but serious injury where the bones of the knee are out of place, usually due to trauma.

Chondromalacia Patella

Softening and breakdown of the cartilage on the underside of the kneecap, causing pain and grinding.

Leg Injuries & Conditions

Shin Splints (Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)

Pain along the inner edge of the shinbone from overuse, common in runners and dancers.

Stress Fracture

Tiny cracks in a bone, often from repetitive force or overuse, especially in the shin or foot.

Calf Strain

Stretching or tearing of the calf muscles, usually due to sudden movements or overuse.

Compartment Syndrome

Increased pressure in a leg compartment (muscle area), reducing blood flow and risking muscle damage.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

A blood clot in a deep vein, typically in the leg. Can cause swelling, pain, and be life-threatening if untreated.

Sciatica

Pain that radiates down the leg from the lower back, caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Narrowing of arteries in the legs, reducing blood flow and causing leg pain when walking.

Varicose Veins

Enlarged, twisted veins visible under the skin, often in the legs, due to valve weakness or failure.

Muscle Cramps

Sudden, involuntary contractions of leg muscles, often due to dehydration or electrolyte imbalances.
